Nourish the soil before planting the seed

Preparing for a baby begins before conception.  The egg takes approximately 150 days to mature, while sperm take about 72 days to form.  During this window of growth, your health will influence the health of the sperm and egg. 

Practitioners of Chinese Medicine believe that a balance of physical and emotional health provides an ideal fertile ground.  Opening blood flow to the reproductive organs, regulating hormonal communication, and creating a calm receptive environment are essential to increased fertility.. 

Weekly acupuncture treatments and herbal supplements during this three to four month period offer numerous benefits.  Documented studies and clinical success indicate that acupuncture and herbs can:

  1. Increase blood flow to the uterus and thicken the endometrial lining

  2. Regulate hormonal feedback systems and menstrual cycles

  3. Reduce stress associated with infertility

  4. Improve ovarian function and egg quality

  5. Increase conception with or without assisted reproductive technology (ART)

INITIAL ASSESSMENT – 1 ½  to 2 hours

An initial consultation is our time to clarify your goals, challenges, and treatment plan. By approaching your individual case from both Chinese and Western medical perspectives, we can discover how diet, exercise, and lifestyle may be influencing your fertility potential.  For example, with relatively simple adjustments, we should be able to improve your energy level and sleep patterns, as well as reducing stress.

Before your appointment, I will send health intake forms for you to complete and return, along with any relevant tests and procedures you’ve had done. This allows me time to review the information before we meet.

After the consultation, you will receive an acupuncture treatment.  I use thin, sterile, disposable acupuncture needles that are gently and strategically placed to enhance your fertility. With relaxing background music, most patients feel a deep sense of relaxation. It’s not unusual to fall asleep during the treatment.

FOLLOWUP SESSIONS

During each session, we will record your changes in lifestyle, menstrual cycle, energy, sleep, digestion and emotions. This information helps me determine the most effective acupuncture points and provide the most appropriate herbal formulas.

The goal of consistent treatment is to:

  • balance the hormones that are responsible for changes in the cycle,

  • improve the nutrient quality of the blood

  • increase blood circulation to the reproductive organs

  • reduce inflammation which helps balance the immune system

  • implement optimal diet and lifestyle changes to support your overall health
