Jin Shin Jyutsu is a type of acupressure that shares numerous concepts with Chinese Medicine. This ancient art was rediscovered in Japan at the beginning of the twentieth century and is practiced today by thousands of practitioners throughout the world.
Jin Shin Jyutsu employs twenty-six points called safety energy locks, located along a network of energetic pathways. When one of the energy locks becomes blocked, this disruption inhibits circulation along the pathways and, eventually, affects the body’s regulatory systems.
I have found the combination of Jin Shin and acupuncture has a synergistic effect with great results.
THE JIN SHIN TREATMENT
With the patient reclined, face-up, I gently hold two points along a pathway to detect pulses. Invariably, the rhythm, texture, or strength of the two pulses will be irregular. Gradually the pulses begin to synchronize, indicating that tension or congestion has been released. When this occurs, I move one hand to another point, and again wait for the pulses to balance.
One reason for Jin Shin’s effectiveness may be its mysterious ability to facilitate the body’s innate healing capacity.
Jin Shin is applicable for a wide range of conditions. In deciding which treatment patterns to use, I consider symptoms, body language, and evaluation of wrist pulses.
SELF HELP TECHNIQUES
Jin Shin Jyutsu encourages self study, in which one learns to interpret and respond to the messages provided by the body. It can be used to address existing concerns, or to simply maintain health and well-being,
Holding each finger is a self help technique. In Jin Shin theory each finger is associated with an emotion and specific organs. It is relaxing and therapeutic. It seems impossible that something so simple could be so effective, yet it is.
